Photos of the Working Waterfront in Portland and Bug Light

This weekend, I finally dusted off my Nikon camera and took it out for a little photo adventure. It had been a while, but just like riding a bike, I got right back into it. I started at the Working Waterfront in Portland, capturing the charm of the boats, docks, and the vibes of the harbor. Then, I headed over to Bug Light in South Portland, where the lighthouse stood beautifully against the bright blue sky.

The day couldn’t have been better—50 degrees, sunny, and the perfect hint of spring in the air. There’s something so refreshing about being outside, focusing on the details, and sharpening my photography skills. It reminded me just how much I love this creative outlet.

Northern Vertical Rebrand

In January of 2020, I partnered up with Ryan Howes and his company Northern Vertical to rebrand his business and streamline his marketing messaging.

Prior to our work together, Ryan had two different logos, one that promoted his Integrative Health initiatives and the other for his Mountain Climbing Guiding offerings. As we started the journey to create his Marketing Plan, we decided that joining the two initiatives was imperative.

The original Northern Vertical logo had a rustic feel while the Health logo had a modern sleek design. One thing that was very import to Ryan in the NV logo was the shape of the mountain. In his Integrative Health logo the Delta held great significance to him.

I took the meaningful elements and designed a clean, sleek & modern logo that used the Delta to form the Mountain while being a part of the letter N to represent his company. Below in the top left, is the original Northern Vertical logo. In the top right is the original Ryan Howes Health logo. Below them is the final logo I designed for his rebranding.

After creating the perfect branding, together we crafted a clear and concise mission statement. I then redesigned his website to match the new branding with rewritten messaging in accordance with the Marketing Plan we had established. You can check it out here:

I’m first and foremost a graphic designer, but I always like to keep my creativity fresh using a number of different mediums. The last few years I’ve been really leaning into photography & as of the last few months, I’ve been being creative with my editing.

I decided to combine some of my photo manipulations with my love for typography.
